Why are bees chewing on my white cedar patio furniture?
I’ve noticed several times, bees "chewing" grooves on my cedar deck furniture. They slowly take the top layer off revealing a light brown trough down the weathered gray color my furniture has naturally taken on.

There most likely Yellow Jackets or paper wasp and using your decaying wood on your outside furniture to build thier nest ( hive). So at least they’re not the huge carpenter bumble bees that bore holes in the wood and live inside your furniture.Anyway take a quick trip to your local hardware store and apply a coating of bug repellant to keep the pesty bees away and save you from having to purchase outdoor plastic furniture.
some bees chew holes in wood deep and deep enough to hide inside the wood get a wax spray that has chyanne pepper in it and spray a damp cloth to put on it bees wont chew peppers
