What to do about 7 month old who climb out of crib?
I have a very active and strong 7 mth old he wears 18 mth clothes and is off the charts at 22lbs. My problem is we where co-sleeping until he learned to crawl which was last month. So i have been putting him in his crib once he falls asleep. Last night I heard a strange clanging on the moniter and went up stairs to find him teetering on the rail of the crib hitting our bed with a chewing ring. Needless to say I was hoping this was a one time event, but I put him back in it and he proceded to climb out with a big smile on his face. So here I am lying on a foam cushion that you put on the floor with him beside me. We had a doctor appointment today and she said put the mattress on the floor but that didnt work he kept almost falling off every time he moved. It is so scary because at his age he has absolutly no concept of danger. I found this cribnet that to me looks like a cage plus he is a strong little guy I am not sure this would last for long. Does any one have any suggestions?

Lower the mattress frame? That’ll keep the little buggar where he belongs!

hmmm.. he is a strong baby.. y dont you buy a crib which is very spacious so that he can move about in it as much a she wnts but at the sam iem have the rails real high so that he cannot climb out of it.. over that u could put soemthing like a mosquito net so that even if he manages to climb, he cant get out of it and at the same time will b protected from any insects too..

You’ll need to lower the mattress to the lowest level if you haven’t already. What about making him sleep in a playpen? (I’m thinking of safety here!! I don’t especially like this idea, but it’s that, an idea). I would try the net idea and see where it leads.
Have you tried putting toys in with him? I’m thinking if you give him entertainment, he might not be so eager to leave (?).
Worst comes to worst, baby proof an area for him to crawl around in (put the mattress on the floor with a gate, they make large gates now days) – or use the playpen idea.

either….
1) get the net
2) get a very spacious crib, one that he can move.play around in
3) get a crib with higher rails

My oldest daughter co-slept with me until she was 6 months old. Then she would cry until she threw up when we put her in a crib.
My middle daughter was walking when she was 7 months old. By 10 months she decided to climb out of her crib.
Both went into a toddler be before 1 year old.
Baby proof his room and consider the toddler bed. He will be safe with a secure gate on his bedroom door.

god sounds like you have your hands full?
id keep trying with the mattress on the floor my little boy kept rolling off his to start with but there wasnt far to fall so he never got hurt. he did eventually get used to it.
if the cot is at the lowest possition i dont think he should be in there really its much more dangerous for him to be in there, further to fall!! etc.
try him in his own room on matress we started on single air bed with my son after a few nights of putting him back on etc he finally got the hang of it. now sleeping in a big single bed using stool to climb in he hardly falls out now.
if you do put him in his own room make sure you have babygates everywhere! just be careful if he can climb out the cot maybes he can climb over the gate?! someone i knew had to put a babygate on top of another her daughter climbed that was the only way to keep her in.
good luck x

haha that is so cute… do what i did just give up:)
i need my sleep i am 5 months pregnant and my baby climbs out of bed i shut all the doors so he cant go far then he just comes back to me and goes bak to sleep. he does this atleast 3 times a night.. so hard..

good luck darls:)
