what cushions would look good on a red-brown chesterfield couch?
It’s a high backed one – i’ve no idea about the colours to choose. (UK-based and on a budget)

With the style of your couch, I would go with a solid color. Something to coordinate with the room & not clash with the couch color.
If you have any artwork in the room, hold it next to the couch & imagine one of the colors as pillows.
Use your closet for inspiration. Choose shirts on your favorite colors & put them around a pillow, put it on your couch & see if you like it. If you find one you like, wear that shirt to the store the day you go shopping.
If you are on a budget, remember thrift shops. They may have some nice sweaters that can be stitched up to make a pillow.

on that color sofa, dark brown faux-leather cushions would look great.
Bright yellow would look awesome!
