How long should I let my new cement patio dry for?

I am curious when I can start walking on my new cement patio that was finished being poured this morning at 10am Pacific time? When is it safe to put "patio furniture" on it and such?

What's the best way to refurbish teak wood patio furniture?

I have been refurbishing wood for over 7 years now and I love it. I redid our redwood deck, patio furniture, 2 roll top desks, kitchen table, cabinets, upstairs bathroom and much more. But have not worked with teak wood yet. My neighbors recently asked me if I would like to earn some extra $ by redoing their teak wood patio set that they have owned for 7 years. They complimented me on all the work they have seen me do over the years and wanted to get my "professional" opinon. I went over and checked their patio set out and said I would get back to them in a couple of days. I’ve researched several websites and have gotten lots of ideas, but they are all so different in the how-to’s. I would like to do a great job for them and make some money at the same time but am a little apprehensive. I would also like to know if anyone could give me an estimate or ballpark figure on how much one usually charges for something like this. It’s a 5 piece octogonal table and chairs with slates

my mom is paranoid about our patio furniture being stolen?? (help!)?

My mom has been talking about getting some new patio furniture, so i went searching online for something nice. I thought i had found two perfect things for our smallish backyard/patio, but when i told her, she said that we couldn’t get it because it would be stolen.

She acts like this all the time. Always negative and paranoid. Do YOU think that it would be stolen? We live in a VERY safe/rich-er (ER!) neighborhood. haha. I suppose she’s concerned because the one i showed her was wicker, and it would be easier to steal than other things.

This just bothers me. Is there anything i can say to change her mind? It would be so perfect to put in back. I just want to know what you think. I seriously doubt someone would steal it. Ugh.

What can you do to protect powder-coated steel patio furniture from rusting?

We bought patio furniture a while back, and it’s made of all aluminum, which is great bc after several years, there’s not a spot of rust. We love it. We got the gazebo that went w/it, but it was bamboo, and after several rainy/humid summers, it disintegrated.
Now, we found another gazebo that matches our chairs, but it’s made from "powder-coated rust-resistant steel." We know this stuff will likely still rust, even though it’s "resistant" to it, because we’ve seen it happen w/neighbor’s/family’s stuff etc.

Is there anything you can do to it to prevent it from rusting? We hate to spend the $ on something that’s going to rust out in 2-3 years.

Any opinions of that Rustoleum stuff? My inlaws used it but their patio furniture still rusted apart. I don’t know what to do. Is there some kind of oil protectant or something to rub on it periodically? Any experience with powder-coated steel patio furniture?

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

Cords to Lock / Secure patio furniture and grill?

I’m looking for a thin plastic coated wire/cord with loops on each end to lock. I want to loop it around my patio furniture b/c I live in a downtown area with a ton of foot traffic in the summer. I just have plastic Adirondack chairs but last year someone stole one and they are light weight. Yes, they are replaceable but I don’t want to have to pay a pop when a drunk person thinks it’s funny to steal a patio chair on their way back from a bar. I do not want a heavy duty chain and the cord I found at Lowes was very thick (almost 1") which is perfect for my grill but way too heavy for the chairs.

If anyone knows of an alternative cord, cheaper place to buy it, or a way to buy it and then have someone put loops on the end of it for me, that would be wonderful! Please only respond with helpful answer (and not ‘‘I’ve never lived in an urban area so I don’t know’’ response)

Is wooden patio furniture durable?

We are currently shopping around for patio furniture, and my husband and I are at odds about what to get. He wants a metal set because he swears they are the best and most durable and all you have to do to take care of them is repaint them. I think that rust would be an issue, and really wouldn’t look forward to removing any rust before repainting. Plus, I don’t really like the look of most metal sets… and the ones I do like are very expensive.

I really like the look of the natural wooden sets, but don’t know much about taking care of them. The wooden sets usually tout that they only need to be oiled occasionally to keep it looking nice. Any care tips or tales of personal experience would be helpful.

Patio / outdoor furniture?

I cant afford outdoor furniture…I have looked every where and its so expensive (400 and up) is there anything else I can use for patio furniture…any ideas. We live in Oklahoma and I love the warm weather. Could I use a futon..or would it rust? If I brought the mattress in at the evenings…I feel bad that my family cant enjoy sitting outside, but at the moment we just don’t have extra money for a patio set…i have even looked on craigslist and everyone that is selling theirs wants 350 and up for used stuff…any ideas at all would be helpful and please don’t be rude

Is patio furniture "un-green"…?

My friend wants to live "green," and asked me if patio furniture is made of toxic stuff or is sprayed with anything toxic to make it durable for the outdoors. She asked this because she found out that mattresses are sprayed or whatever with a chemical that is toxic to prevent fire. She was shocked and wants to know if there was anything wrong with patio furniture. Thanks!!!

Patio Furniture or anything for Sex?!?

I just saw this comedy show about a Woman who wanted to buy patio furniture for her deck. But the hubby is really stubborn and likes to pick the patio stuff of his choice. So then she gets the idea that she’ll tell him that if she gets to pick the patio funiture of his choice, then she’ll have any type of sex with him. But he’s gotta agree with the furniture he picks. Do you think this is morally right?

I just think that it’s wrong. Personally, I found the show funny, but I still think that she uses Sex as a tool of bribery. What do you guys think? Is this wrong?
