How do you keep sofa cushions from slipping forward on a sofa?
We have an overstuffed suede-like fabric sofa. The velcro strips underneath the cushions don’t hold them in place. When we sit on the sofa the cushions slip forward and at some point I have to squash them all back into place. Is there any way to keep them from slipping forward? I’ve noticed other sofas with this same problem – overstuffed or not.

When we got a wood futon, with a canvas covered mattress, they gave us a long sheet of that rubbery, kind of knobby (woven looking?) like, shelf liner stuff that we lay between the wood and mattress…..we use it as a couch…….

Try shelf paper–the kind with the holes, and is sticky on one side. I think "Duck Tape" makes it, and they sell it at Walmart. I have some placemats that are kind of "non skid"
like the shelf paper, and they do a pretty good job,
so I haven’t bought the shelf paper yet. Annoying
problem, isn’t it?
Good Luck!

STICK ON VELCRO

YOu could try getting pieces of the no-slip mesh – it’s that stuff you can buy so area rugs don’t slip around on floors. I used that on an old couch of mine and it seems to work ok (you just have to make sure that they stay clean because when they build up dust and crumbs, they don’t ‘stick’ as well).
Other than that, maybe you could put an old throw cover under the anterior portion of the cushions (along the length of the couch) so that the cushions tilt towards the back of the couch, rather than the front – which may hold them in place a little better.
Cheers
I forgot to add, you can buy the no slip stuff at ikea or even walmart. I think you can also look in the kitchen area because they make the stuff for drawers too – so that your utensil tray doesn’t move around…
